The Thames Side Wharf site is located across two plots on either side of Steadfast Road and is situated to the north of John Lewis.
The site has been vacant for several years, and therefore fails to contribute positively to this part of Kingston town centre.
The development potential of the site has been acknowledged for many years. The Kingston Town Centre Area Action Plan identified the site for redevelopment and planning permission was granted in 2014 for two buildings on the site with non-residential uses at ground floor level and apartments above. This permission was not viable and was not implemented, however the redevelopment potential of the site is well established.
Redevelopment would deliver a large number of benefits, given its status as an underused site in a prominent location within Kingston town centre.
